2026 PC build

Metro Redux system requirements

Checked 24 October 2026

The Steam requirements checked on 24 October 2026, after the next-gen update, ask for 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 and 20 GB of available disk space per game. This is the published storage requirement, not a measured compressed download size. That disk number used to be quoted around 10 GB. If your PC is under the new minimum, use the legacy branch instead of the new renderer.

Steam's 2026 list

System requirements from the Steam pages
	Minimum	Recommended
OS	Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit	Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit
CPU	Intel i5-4690 or Ryzen 3 1200	Intel i5-8600 or Ryzen 5 3600
RAM	4 GB	8 GB
GPU	GTX 750 Ti 2 GB or Radeon R7 260X 2 GB	GTX 1660 6 GB or RX 590 8 GB
API	DirectX 11	DirectX 11
Disk	20 GB	20 GB

A Ryzen 5 5600G question shows up in search. The 5600G is newer than the Ryzen 3 1200 minimum. Its graphics are the integrated chip, which these notes do not certify. Treat the discrete GPU lines as the ones Steam published.

Steam Deck, Mac, legacy

Both Redux apps returned Verified on Steam's Deck report when this page was checked. Proton updates can change that.
macOS and Linux are still platform flags on the store. The October patch text we read is about Windows. Whether those builds received the same 20 GB upgrade is not confirmed here.
Legacy branches: metro_2033_redux_legacy and metro_last_light_redux_legacy on Steam and GOG, for PCs that should stay on the older renderer.

Upscalers in the new notes are DLSS, FSR, and 4A TSR. Ray tracing is not a requirement because it is not in the update. See the next-gen page and PC fixes if the game installs and then misbehaves. Download is where you buy it.

Questions

How big is Metro Redux after the 2026 update?

Steam lists 20 GB of available storage per game, not a measured download size. Allow at least 40 GB for both before patching headroom.

Will it run on Steam Deck?

Both apps were Verified on 24 October 2026. Re-check the store badge if Proton has updated since.
