Last Light Redux vs Complete Edition

Checked 24 October 2026

Complete Edition and Redux tell the same Last Light story and include the same four DLC packs. Complete Edition is the 2013 release bundled with its season pass. Redux is the 2014 remaster. Steam sells Redux, not Complete Edition. However, 4A Games confirmed on 14 May 2026 that the original Last Light Complete Edition is permanently available on GOG through its Preservation Program.

The difference that matters

Complete Edition and Redux
	Complete Edition	Last Light Redux
Base game	Metro: Last Light (2013)	2014 remaster of that game
DLC	Season pass included	Same four packs included
2033	Not included	Not included
On Steam now	Not sold	Sold as app 287390
On GOG now	Sold; preserved original 2013 edition	Sold; remastered edition
2026 next-gen update	No	Yes, on the Redux app

Redux is the version guides call definitive because of the lighting, performance, and the rebuilt achievement list, not because it adds a secret campaign. Console Redux also targeted 60 frames per second in 2014, separate from the 2026 4K modes. Mission names are on the DLC page.

What to do with the disc you have

If you already own Complete Edition and you only want the story, you have the story. Buy Redux if you want the remaster, the current achievement set, or the 2026 update. For the current remaster and next-gen support, choose Redux. For the original 2013 presentation, Last Light Complete Edition on GOG is an official purchase option, not a grey-market key. See the 4A Games announcement.

Complete Edition is not the Metro Redux collection. The collection is 2033 Redux plus Last Light Redux. The 2010 game versus 2033 Redux is a different question: Metro Redux vs Metro 2033. Stores are on download.

Questions

Does the Complete Edition include Metro 2033?

No. It is only Last Light plus that game's DLC. 2033 is a separate purchase, usually as 2033 Redux.

Is Redux missing any Complete Edition mission?

No. The four packs are in Redux. The gap is presentation, achievements, and the 2026 update, not a missing chapter.
