Metro Redux on PS5
Checked 24 October 2026
The PS5 version of Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux is part of the free next-gen update, dated 29 October 2026. The current PLAION FAQ says most owners qualify, but some versions may not be compatible. Availability in Japan is still being finalised.
Frame rates
- Native 4K at 60 frames per second.
- Dynamic or upscaled 4K at 120 frames per second when the display supports 120 Hz.
- PS5 Pro uses PSSR. The base PS5 notes do not claim PSSR.
- DualSense adaptive triggers are listed for this version.
There is no ray tracing on any platform in this update, including PS5 Pro. That is an FAQ answer, not a rumor. The full caveat list is on the next-gen page.
PS4 to PS5
Deep Silver announced a free update for existing owners. The current PLAION FAQ qualifies that promise: most owners are eligible, but some versions may not be compatible. PS4 disc, digital and subscription owners should check the specific store entitlement rather than assume every edition upgrades. Keep the PS4 version installed only if you like how it already runs. The PS4 game can also be played on PS5 through backward compatibility, which is not the same as the native 2026 build. Whether your PS4 save appears in the native build was not confirmed in the notes checked on 24 October 2026. Do not assume it does.
A 2015 PS4 and Xbox One trial let people play the first third of Redux. That trial date is historical. It is not a 2026 demo. Buy links are on download. The rest of the matrix is platforms. Switch owners do not get this build. See Switch.
Questions
Is the PS5 upgrade free?
The current PLAION FAQ says free for most owners, with some versions potentially incompatible. Confirm the entitlement for your PS4 edition on PlayStation Store.
Does PS5 Redux have ray tracing?
No. The official FAQ says this update does not add ray tracing.
